Cell-based Meats
In this episode, we take a look at Cell-based Meats also known as Cultured Meats.
Cultured meat is meat produced by in vitro cultivation of animal cells, instead of from slaughtered animals. It is a form of cellular agriculture. Cultured meat is produced using many of the same tissue engineering techniques used in regenerative medicine. Its applications lead it to having prospective health, environmental, cultural, and economic considerations in comparison to conventional meat. This episode discusses the history of this technology and why over the last 3-5 years it has started to emerge as a viable product that could see commercialization as soon as 2020/2021.
Microneedle Patches
In this episode we discuss the Dissolving Microneedle Patch.
Dissolving Microneedle patches consist of 5 types of Microneedles – Solid, Hollow, Dissolving, Coated and Sweable. Here we’ll discuss how Transdermal drug delivery systems work, specifically Microneedle Patches. DMP’s consist of a substrate of polymers that dissolve in vivo blended with active ingredients and molded into the shape of fine needles. The patch form can be placed directly on the skin. This episode discusses how Microneedle patches will be a very viable and useful in drug delivery, all in a non invasive way.
